We arrange escorted group air travel between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Beijing International Airport (PEK). A SLG agent will assist students with luggage and check-in at SFO, and accompany them on the plane to Beijing. Another agent will greet the students at the Beijing International Airport and arrange transportation to the campus. We strongly recommend that students from the U.S. depart from SFO Airport at the scheduled time whenever possible. Traveling in a group will help alleviate anxiety and culture shock, which is often experienced when traveling to a different country.

Chinese Curriculum & Cultural Classes
You will attend morning Mandarin language courses at days that not go traveling, with native Chinese instructors teaching all levels of classes. The classes focus on developing the four main language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Our instructors prepare active hands-on lessons that enable you to quickly speak in sentences. Students are provided with plenty of opportunities to practice their language skills through a wide range of interesting exercises, interactive activities, and role-plays. Our goal is to see students communicate confidently and effectively in mandarin in all occasions, whether it is in school, in their host families and on the streets of China. The fluency you develop will give you a great advantage in your future schooling and career.  For details, please check class outlines.

In addition of daily Mandarin classes, SLG has arranges 1 to 1.5 hour 1-on-1 personal tutoring time each day to help students achieving maximal learning result. During the time, you will be paired up with a local Chinese student (high school age or younger). You two will make conversations in Chinese and could talk about anything you are interested, from friends, city you live to food you like... If you are not ready for a chat in Chinese, your language partner will serve as a tutor and help you review, practice and learn. In any case, your language partner will help you speak more Chinese and speak it in a genuine way.

A wide range of culture related classes are provided, including: Chinese history & geography, society & culture, Chinese martial arts or tai-chi, traditional Chinese brush painting, calligraphy, Chinese knot making, kite making, Peking opera face painting, Chinese chess, Chinese cooking, ceramics, and Chinese music & arts appreciation workshops.

The price in US dollars will be adjusted upwards by $30 for every 0.1RMB decrease in the exchange rate.
For example, if the dollar weakens to an exchange rate of 1USD = 7.6RMB (from the current 1USD = 7.8RMB), the program price in US dollars will increase by $60. Tips: The earlier you make your payment in full, the lower price you lock giving that the Chinese currency will only move upwards in the near future.

Parent price covers everything except: classroom instruction and academic counseling, enrollment fee, textbooks and studying materials.

Student should budget between $200 to $300 per month for personal expenses, such as calling card or souvenir purchasing. Traveler's check is the most convenient and safest way to bring money when traveling.
